Engineered to AS/NZS 1170 for your specific site and built with Bluescope Steel and Colorbond cladding. Backed by the manufacturer's warranty for long-term durability in Australian conditions.

A practical steel storage shed with fully clad walls and one long side left completely open, creating a row of accessible bays along the full length of the building. The back wall and both end walls are enclosed in Colorbond Trimdek sheeting, while the open front gives you unrestricted drive-in access at every bay — no doors to open, no clearance restrictions.

This shed delivers generous internal clearance for vehicles, tractors, boats, caravans, and bulky equipment. The open-bay layout makes it ideal for machinery line-ups, covered storage, workshop shelter, or agricultural use where you need to pull in and out quickly from the front.

Portal frames are spaced at regular centres along the length, with heavy-duty C-section columns and rafters sized for the span. The enclosed sides provide solid weather protection from wind and rain, while the open front maintains airflow and keeps everything easily accessible.

Assembly Information

This product is supplied as a pre-engineered steel kit for owner-builder assembly or professional installation. Upon production of your order, a detailed assembly guide specific to your kit will be generated and supplied with your delivery. This guide will contain accurate drawings, fixing details, and step-by-step instructions tailored to your exact build.

The following is a general overview of the process to help you prepare.

Before You Start

  • Ensure your concrete slab is completed, level, and cured before delivery.
  • Check all delivered items against the supplied Bill of Materials within 7 days of delivery. Report any shortages or damage immediately.
  • Have appropriate lifting equipment, tools, and safety gear on site.
  • Ensure power is available on site. Generator fees apply if no mains power is accessible.

General Assembly Overview

  1. Set out and mark column positions on the slab as per your assembly guide.
  2. Install base plates and anchor bolts.
  3. Erect columns for each frame, starting from one end.
  4. Lift and fix rafters to columns, forming each portal frame.
  5. Install girts between columns for lateral bracing.
  6. Install purlins across rafters.
  7. Fit cross-bracing as indicated in your guide.
  8. Install roof sheeting, working from one end to the other.
  9. Fit ridge cap and barge capping.
  10. Install gutters and downpipes. Downpipes are supplied to ground level only — connection to stormwater is the owner’s responsibility.

Important Notes

  • Always follow your kit-specific assembly guide as the primary reference. The overview above is for general preparation purposes only.
  • All dimensions are nominal, not absolute.
  • Construction support from Matrix Steel is general guidance only. For professional assembly, engage a licensed builder or contractor.
  • Any drilling, cutting, or modification to components is at the owner’s risk.
  • Removal of excess building materials from site after construction is the owner’s responsibility.

Which sides of the building are enclosed? The back wall and both end walls (gable ends) are fully clad in Colorbond Trimdek sheeting. The front long side is completely open, giving you bay access along the full length of the shed.

Can I close the front or add roller doors? The kit is supplied with the front side open. Contact Matrix Steel before purchase to discuss adding roller doors, sliding doors, or full front wall cladding to your order.

What’s included in the kit? Your kit includes the full steel frame (columns, rafters, purlins, girts), Colorbond Trimdek roof cladding, Colorbond Trimdek wall cladding on three sides (back and both ends), ridge cap, barge capping, gutters, downpipes, and all required fixings and fasteners.

Do I need a concrete slab? Yes. This kit is designed for on-slab connection. You’ll need to have a suitable concrete slab prepared before assembly. Slab preparation is not included.

Is engineering included? Each kit is engineered to AS/NZS 1170 standards and site-rated for your specific location, including wind region classification. Engineering certification can be provided on request for an additional fee.

Can I choose my Colorbond colours? Yes. The full Colorbond colour range is available for roof cladding, wall cladding, gutters, downpipes, ridge cap, and barge capping. Contact us to customise your colour selections.

Do you deliver? Yes. Delivery is available Australia-wide. The delivery address must have practical access for our transport vehicles. Additional charges may apply for restricted-access sites.

Do you offer installation? Installation services are available in select areas and quoted separately. Contact us for a supply-and-install quote. Installation is subject to a site visit, and conditions apply.

What’s the difference between this and a fully open-sided shed? A fully open-sided shed has no wall cladding at all — it’s open on every side with roof-only coverage. This product has three walls enclosed and only the front open, giving you weather protection on three sides while still allowing easy drive-in access along the full length.

What’s the difference between this and a fully enclosed shed? A fully enclosed shed has cladding on all four walls and typically includes roller doors for access. This product leaves the entire front side open with no doors, making it ideal for situations where you need constant, unrestricted access across multiple bays without opening or closing anything.

What’s the difference between this and the drive-through garage? The drive-through garage has both long sides clad and both gable ends open, so vehicles enter one end and exit the other. This open-front shed has both ends and the back wall clad, with the front long side open — so you access it from the front across the full length rather than driving through end to end.
